Snow has come to Aspen
Snow has come to Aspen
We all woke up yesterday to our second snowfall. Remember we had a slight dusting on September 12. Last night was rather cold 7 degrees at the airport. I would say winter is differently around the corner. According to Aspenweather.net . “Basically snow started late Wednesday night and it continued at varying intensities Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon in the valleys we transitioned to widely scattered snow showers, down valley had more breaks of sun than Aspen. The ski areas would not stop snowing which is a good thing, it snowed nicely into the mid afternoon hours. The high temp at the airport hit 31, this was 37 degrees colder than Wednesday.”
In terms of snow – The higher valleys above 7400ft generally had 2″, some spots a touch less, others a touch more.
Ski Area Totals:
Snowmass (Mid-slope): 6.4″
Snowmass (Timberline): 10″. It’s an isolated total but it happened!!
Aspen Mtn (Top): 6.8″
Aspen Mtn (Mid-slope): 6″
Highlands: 6 to 7″
Bowl – No sensor data was available but they probably ended up like Snowmass near 12K.
I would say this is a great start for our ski season!
