Things to Do
East Aspen is the perfect outdoor destination - visit the East of Aspen Trail, one of Aspen’s most gradual and scenic trails to explore over 3 miles of paved trails and dirt paths with your furry friend. This trail runs parallel to the Roaring Fork River, named a “Gold Medal Waters” for fishing that flows over 70 miles through canyons and features crystal-clear waters, perfect for white-water rafting.
The North Star Preserve offers several opportunities to get out and explore nature. Whether by foot, paddleboard, or cross-country skiing, North Star is the place to visit to take in the best views. Running along Highway 82, the trails connect to downtown Aspen and feature a wildlife viewing platform, a great place to spot an elusive moose! Independence Pass, part of Highway 82, passes over the Continental Divide and can be accessed by car or explored on foot during the summer months. The pass features hiking and biking spots and is home to the annual Ride for the Pass event and the famous Grottos Ice Caves. Independence Pass is also a popular destination for rock climbing and camping.
