Shop designer brands like Gucci and Prada along Galena Street and wander the stately halls of the Aspen Art Museum to view breathtaking works of contemporary art or attend the museum’s biannual events dedicated to local artists. A destination for all styles of artists, Aspen is also home to the Aspen Words literary organization, which seeks to educate and uplift generations of creators.
Smuggler Mountain Trail is a popular, dog-friendly 14-mile trail up the historic Smuggler Mountain. This trail is fairly difficult but features gorgeous views of the entire neighborhood, a pristine lake, and historic mines scattered throughout the trail. If you’d rather explore the history of the mountain without breaking a sweat, visit the Smuggler Mine for a unique, hands-on tour. Put on a hard hat and travel 1200 feet into the earth to experience what life was like for the original miners and learn more about the area where the world’s largest silver nugget was discovered in 1894.
